The term carpet was used originally to describe coverings for tables, beds, and other furniture, and only from the early 18th century was it associated with the floor. The names of the weaves indicate a method of interlacing threads rather than fiber content. In weft knitting, the regular hand-knitting process that can also be done by machine, the work progresses back and forth; in each course, or new row of stitches, one loop is added to each wale, or chain of loops hanging vertically from the needles.

I plain weave is the best weave structure for rayon chenille. This results in a tightly packed, stable fabric. Powdered white or gray, large and elaborate or small and neat, the wig replaced men's natural hair at any social occasion until the french revolution, at court functions for another 30 years after that, and in the law courts of great britain to this day.

Floral rugs from the caucasus borrow persian vase and tree carpet designs, with the overall character of the design showing strong chinese elements. Available in an array of rich shades, their versatile 18 x 18-inch square design will accent bedrooms or living areas. Gold became more frequently used in embroidery after about 1300. Caucasus for 800 years the caucasus, a vast mountainous region in northern caucasia, between the black and caspian seas, has retained a great ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity that is evident in its 19th- and 20th-century rugs.

It has a vintage look, but of course, it's new! It is full length with one pocket. The weft is a single thread that is passed over and under the warp threads in a systematic way to create a solid or patterned piece of cloth. The widespread introduction of mechanical weaving in the 19th century effectively ended the production of western hand-knotted pile carpets. In the 15th century and the first half of the 16th century cairo was the center of mameluke carpet weaving.

The warp runs the length of the carpet, and the fineness of the weave depends on the thickness of the warps and their proximity to one another.
